Alex Villacorta, Ph.D.
Co-Founder, Chief Data Officer
Alex owns fundamental research on real estate market composition, home valuation, and forecasting, as well as housing data ingestion, normalization, and research architecture.
Alex has always had inherent passion for the science of uncertainty.
Ever since he failed his first midterm exam in statistics, he has dedicated his professional life to understanding how to measure and understand the intrinsic randomness that permeates everyday life. This passion led him to obtain a Ph.D. in statistics and applied probability, where he researched the interplay of spatial, semantic, and temporal randomness in information diffusion.
Looking to apply these tools to a real world application, he was drawn to the world of real estate due to the foundational premise that real estate value is based on a series of factors that are idiosyncratic, dynamic in their evolution over time, and spatially correlated. For the last 13 years Alex has been deeply involved in all aspects of real estate valuation including leading the development team that built the appraisal review engine for Freddie Mac.
Having provided his insights to the small community of lenders and institutional investors, Alex is now committed to democratizing the benefits of U.S. real estate investments to a broader audience.
ResiShares represents his passion to level the access to real estate to all investors both big and small.
